Call for papers for the annual Journées Augustiniennes de Carthage conference

The annual Journées Augustiniennes de Carthage conference has issued a call for papers. This conference is co-organized with the Center of African Studies of the Academy and hosted by the Tunisian Academy for Sciences and Arts, Beït al-Hikma

Dates: 12-14 November 2026
Location: Carthage, Tunisia
Theme: An Augustinian Charter for Perpetual Peace (cf., the current draft of the concept)

This year’s conference will feature presentations by Colleen Mitchell (Villanova University), Kolawole Chabi (Augustinianum), and Phillip Yang, OSA (Archdiocese of San Diego). In addition, the conference invites proposals for fifteen-minute papers on Augustine’s understanding of peace.
The annual conference has two overarching aims: (1) to support ongoing efforts in Algeria and Tunisia to develop the Via Augustina, and (2) to foster dialogue across geographical, cultural, religious, and philosophical boundaries. Accordingly, successful proposals will either engage Augustine’s African context or relate his thought to contemporary challenges.
