Our Lady Seat of Wisdom College (Ontario, Canada) announces the opening of a one-year, full-time faculty position in the Department of Classical & Early Christian Studies, to begin August 2024. By the time of the appointment, the candidate should possess a PhD in Classics, early Christianity, or related field, and be competent to teach Latin at all levels. The candidate must be willing to affirm fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church and support the fostering of authentic Catholic culture through the liberal arts. Preference will be shown for candidates with expertise in Early Christian Studies.
This role will also involve substantial administrative service, as acting Chair of Classical and Early Christian Studies, so experience in academic administration would be an asset.
The campus of Our Lady Seat of Wisdom College is located in Barry’s Bay, a town of fewer than 2,000 people in the picturesque Madawaska Valley of Eastern Ontario. The area boasts pristine lakes, rocky hills and pine forests. The College overlooks Lake Kamaniskeg—which in the Algonquin language of the area’s first inhabitants means “beautiful bay.” The College’s setting, small size and high faculty-to-student ratio foster a uniquely effective teaching and learning environment.
