Higher Degree Research students are an integral part of our scholarly community and intellectual vision.

We welcome proposed research topics that align with the IRCI’s areas of expertise in classics, New Testament studies, late antiquity and Byzantium, medieval and early modern studies, and religion and theology. For more detail on the IRCI’s research, including dynamic new research projects with additional PhD places, see https://www.acu.edu.au/research/our-research-institutes/institute-for-religion-and-critical-inquiry

Successful applicants will be fully immersed in the intellectual life of the Institute, at ACU’s St. Patrick’s Campus in Melbourne, participating in seminars, conferences, and reading groups, and working collaboratively with our team of world-class scholars across our research programs. ACU’s Rome Campus also provides additional opportunities for international research events and fieldwork.

Successful applicants may be eligible for financial support through one of the University’s competitive research scholarships. Financial support includes a stipend scholarship, a fees-offset scholarship or a tuition fee waiver (as appropriate); international students may also be eligible for Single Coverage Overseas HealthCare.
